How it all began

I did my first diet at 13. Like so many women, I grew up believing that shrinking myself was just… expected. I didn’t like my body, and honestly, I didn’t like myself very much either.

But I did love horses. I grew up riding, and for a long time, that was my escape.

I was born and raised in Bolivia, but when I turned 18, I moved to Australia to study—Tassie. Life was good. I started building confidence, making new friendships… and for the first time, I wasn't thinking about my body all the time.

I did miss riding, though. So, I looked for something else to get me outdoors. Enter a new hobby - hiking.

I went on my first hike. My legs were burning. My lungs were on fire. I was dying on the way up.

That’s when I decided to join a gym.

At first? It was great. I was feeling stronger, more capable. Then, social media happened. Comparison. Obsession. Food rules. Overtraining. Before I knew it, I was deep in an eating disorder—stuck in a cycle I thought was “health” but felt like anything but.

I thought health was supposed to be freeing. I thought it was about feeling capable. Instead, I became a prisoner to diet culture.

Recovery was long. Messy. Filled with uncertainty.

But I made it through. And when I did, I knew this was my mission:

And then ThriveCo was born.

I used to be someone who would start exercising and ignore my nutritional needs, not see any progress and quit after becoming consumed by anxiety. Years of making these mistakes, consuming so much my head would explode. I finally realised I needed help… 
 
I worked up the courage to approach Laura and start a new journey. One I’d been doing wrong for many years. I just wish I’d known sooner where I would be now.

I didn't know what I was signing up for when I reached out to Laura over a year ago - I was nervous, intimidated and had very little confidence speaking to a coach and joining a gym.  Fast forward to now it was one of the best decisions I'd made in my entire life.
